Successful Youth Workshops as Part of the Gusen Participation Process

The final workshop with stakeholders held as part of the redesign process for  the Gusen Memorial took place at the end of May – an exchange of views with international school students.

The 25 young people had come from France, Poland, Czechia and Austria to take part in the two-day project. The first day saw the participants getting to know each other and the historical sites – Mauthausen and, in particular, Gusen. The day concluded with a concert by the Polish students from Katowice, who gave a brilliant performance of several songs arranged for string quartet.

The second day took place at the House of Remembrance in St. Georgen. A range of working groups worked on ideas for a future memorial site in Gusen and recorded these shared findings.
